Letter: ‘Urinetown’ is a unique, satirical musical by Hanford Drama

We are part of the volunteer publicity crew for Hanford Drama’s production of Urinetown. We’ve experienced some resistance to and destruction of our yard signs, so I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about this uniquely named show.

The advanced drama students are proud to present Urinetown, a musical about a town suffering through a drought. A big corporation charges everyone to use the bathroom but as the rates increase, the townsfolk become more and more [pissed] angry, leading to a revolt.

This is the first time this unique, satirical musical has been performed in the area. Urinetown is a hilarious, poignant show. We anticipate a steady stream of patrons for opening night May 6.

Go with the flow and make it the No. 1 item on your list of things to do this weekend! Shows are May 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. Urinetown is rated PG-13 for frank discussion of bodily functions.
