Letter: Thanks to Red Cross volunteers for selfless generosity

National Volunteer Week is April 11-17 and the American Red Cross, serving Central and Southeastern Washington, is honoring our volunteers who give their time and talent to help our community. Please join me in thanking all volunteers for their selfless generosity.

Across the United States, hundreds of thousands of volunteers are part of the Red Cross. They respond to fires, assist communities with fire safety education, teach lifesaving skills like first aid and CPR, help staff blood drives and so much more. Volunteers help us fulfill our life saving mission every day.

Not only do local volunteers serve in Tri-Cities, many also deploy to other states to help families affected by devastating floods and other weather-related disasters. These volunteers leave the comforts of home for weeks at a time to help those in need. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for their service.

Community members can sign up today to become a Red Cross volunteer at redcross.org. There are so many ways to help our community.
