Letter: Parks should remember Latinos’ contributions to both counties

If Kennewick Councilman Bob Parks was around in the 1980s, he might recall the word WHOOPS! It was when the lights went out around here and everybody left town, including commerce.

The only entrepreneurs left were within the Hispanic population who toiled in the fields. Some lived in refrigerator boxes. They started moving into town and eventually started businesses, filled empty apartment complexes in both counties, and brought their labor-intensive paychecks to spend here.

So if you live in glass houses, let’s give credit where credit is due before you throw your Trump-filled rocks from inside your glass tower.

Read the Herald sometime. A Chinese emperor worried about too many flying insects proclaimed that everybody kill one. After some time, all the birds disappeared. We all have a purpose, no matter how insignificant others think we are! You should accept that what you thought was cute wasn’t.
