Letter: Richland needs to listen to citizens, not consultants
The city of Richland could have easily gotten by without the expense of paying a consultant from Arizona to come up with a development plan for the riverfront.
“Packing” the waterfront area with retail operations just sounds like a commercial mess and would contribute even more traffic problems to this already heavily used thoroughfare, and the notion of a theme park is nothing more than a gratuitous solicitation for tourist dollars.
The city is obligated to serve the citizens. Check with them — they have lots of good ideas. You may also find that they value having more open and accessible natural spaces and parks than upscale condos and retail properties.
