Letter: Consultant’s Richland waterfront plan would be major blunder

Seriously? Saturate the Richland waterfront with more condos and chic businesses? There are condos and businesses on and adjacent to the Richland waterfront, so why eliminate the remaining natural area with more, which will result in more traffic and congestion?

What's wrong with leaving the area the way it was created and now exists? Is something wrong with natural beauty?

And a theme park along the river? Again, just more traffic and congestion in an already crowded area that has limited vehicle access and parking.

Instead of worrying about how to further develop the waterfront, get busy and eliminate the eyesore called the Uptown Shopping Center and replace it with facilities that will entice locals and others to visit that area of Richland.

Richland has already committed two major blunders, the Horn Rapids community and the Lee Boulevard boat dock, resulting in substantial additional expense. Don’t burden the residents with more.

Richland is not a thriving metropolis (much to the dismay of some residents and leaders, past and present) and never will be. It’s just a great place to live and play.
