Letter: No parking deficit in downtown Richland

Downtown Richland is in transition from primarily small city center downtown stores to an expanding medical complex centered on the Kadlec Medical Center. T

To say we have a parking deficit is ridiculous. There is presently an excess of parking in downtown Richland. It is mostly in private hands and is unused. An example is the old Safeway building parking which is blocked off and unused. Yet there are isolated small pockets of tight parking nearby. The tight parking situation between the Atomic Brew Pub and the Mandarin House Restaurant creates a unsafe environment which the city of Richland will not address.

There will be pains in the next few years during this transition, but should not prevent a farmer’s market from being built or operating successfully.
