Letter: Senate doesn’t have to confirm president’s Supreme Court nomination

I would like to respond to Mr. Husa’s letter to the editor in the March 6 newspaper. He states that the Republican party would suspend the Constitution if we blocked Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

Mr. Husa fails to mention that Obama has made a joke of upholding the Constitution that he swore to uphold. Obama has bypassed the Constitution and used the pen and phone to implement his own ideas of what is right or wrong for the country. He has even stated in previous speeches that it was against the law for him to bypass the words of the Constitution.

The Constitution says that Obama can nominate a judge to the Supreme Court, but that the Senate and Congress don’t have to confirm that nomination. Read some previous statements that Vice President Joe Biden made in 1992. Obama is once again trying to distort the facts and blame the Republican Party for his failure.
