Letter: Pave half of ‘the pit’ in Richland and plant grass on other half

Regarding “the pit” on George Washington Way. So much controversy over a piece of land! Yes, a parking garage and apartments would be nice, as well as a market similar to Seattle’s Pike Place Market.

An alternative not yet suggested — plant half with grass (environmentally correct) and pave half to provide much-need parking for both Howard Amon Park and the downtown merchants. Neither option would be the eyesore that’s there now.
