Letter: Preparing income taxes is an accounting mess

I just completed our income taxes for 2015. A totally confusing, complex, unnecessary number of worksheets and forms, creating an accounting mess.

I defy any of our representatives, senators and bureaucratic executives (including IRS) to complete my tax forms without the use of tax software.

As a matter of fact, I would love to put all of them in a large auditorium, give them a fictitious number of W-2s and 1099s plus Social Security income and tell them to complete the federal taxes. I bet less than 5 percent would be successful. I will even allow them to use a calculator. Good luck.
