Letter: Why are no pro-life agencies receiving government funding?

Reading an article lately I became very unsettled. Jeb Bush stated that Planned Parenthood receives half a billion dollars in government funding annually — $528 million exactly.

This greatly disturbed me. Though I’m soundly pro-life, it wasn’t the fact that Planned Parenthood receives so much money that upset me necessarily. It was realizing, why are no pro-life agencies receiving government funding? Planned Parenthood is taxpayer supported when mother/baby supporting organizations rely solely on the generosity of the community to provide free services and support. It appears that the government is more willing to support the execution of infants than to support those same vulnerable, at-risk human beings months down the road.

This issue is present within our community. Tri-Cities Pregnancy Network works diligently to care for mothers and children in our community, yet receives no federal help. Take 240 in Kennewick and you’ll pass where the money is actually going. What if taxpayers’ money went towards aiding babies and mothers in need; providing diapers, clothing, healthcare for other right-bearing children? Rather than supplying money that aids in destroying human life. What would you, the reader, rather have your earnings go towards?
