Letter: FAA rule on registering drone aircraft is asinine

The story of the drone flying over the Bangor naval base reinforces my position about the asinine rule implementation by the Federal Aviation Administration (Section 336 of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012, otherwise known as the “Special Rule for Model Aircraft”).

I’ve maintained there will be individuals who will not comply with the FAA and there’s no way to track unregistered aircraft. In lieu of that, it’s a good thing every drone operator is registered, at least we know whose drone it wasn’t. Or do we?

One can sure see how well the illegal forced registration process by the FAA is working now.
