Letter: Keep Columbia River waterfront under federal protection to preserve public access

Great letter, Stephen Fabian, regarding Doc Hastings and Gary Petersen’s vision to remove federal control and protection of our naturally maintained and recreational Columbia River waterfront and replace instead with local (commercial) interests.

We need more voices like yours that look at the long-term big picture and that are not politically swayed with feel-good, progressive sound bites.

Let’s keep the riverfront under federal protection, lest we have to start paying usage fees and/or have to travel to Umatilla to picnic and swim.
