Letter: Allow the coroner’s inquest in the Zambrano-Montes shooting
In regards to the postponement of a coroner’s inquest by Franklin County into the death of Antonio Zambrano-Montes (TCH, Feb. 5), I call shenanigans. County judges won’t allow use of their courtrooms? I believe that the courts belong to the public. The county prosecutor says it’s over? It appears the fix is in.
I find it frightening that it is Pasco police protocol to have three officers open fire at a busy intersection on a Friday night at the highest traffic time without regard for public safety. Especially when the suspect is unarmed and running away. Was the suspect here illegally? Sure. Was he causing a disturbance? Absolutely. Did he deserve to be gunned down like a rabid dog? No!
Watch the video — 10 seconds after the suspect was down there are at least five officers in the vicinity. Gee, couldn’t five police officers stop one man without firing? I would hope so, and if they can’t we need a new police force.
Allow the inquest. I am a resident who doesn’t like taxes, but I will gladly help pay for the truth.
