Letter: Maybe the Tri-Cities should be one city
It seems to me that a lot of the recent news has been about division in our community. School levies, grand bargains, the Growth Management Act; all seem to highlight the tension and difficulties of our growing community.
We also have some triumphs, like the Duportail bridge that will bring both sides of the river closer together. Our little towns have done nothing but grow in the 20 years I have spent here. Maybe we should consider that each of us going our own way, and denying the influence of the surrounding neighbors, isn’t going to keep working.
Our community is great, but for as long as I can recall many people have left us thinking we have nothing to offer. I think one of the reasons people feel this way is because we don’t work together, so we don’t grow together.
Maybe we shouldn't be Tri-Cities, maybe we should be one city.
