Letter: Seating excruciating at Uptown Theater performance
My wife and I and two “senior” friends recently attended the Rude Mechanicals’ production of Shakespeare’s Othello at the old Uptown Theater in Richland. The cast was excellent and well-rehearsed and the attempt at a theater in the round was an honest try.
Unfortunately, the seating for this performance was excruciating! We had to leave after the first act. If you plan to go, see if you can bring your own chair. The metal folding chairs provided by the theater are not going to work for you if you have some physical limitations or are unable to sit in a rigid metal folding chair for hours.
I wish the best for the future of the local production of Shakespeare in the Tri-Cities. Just don’t expect to be at all comfortable watching the performances at the old Uptown.
