Letter: Vote yes for Pasco school levy to invest in community’s future

“A rising tide lifts all boats.” That statement by John F. Kennedy is certainly true when it comes to educating our children. Whether or not we have children of our own attending school (I don’t), it is critical to the well-being of our country and to each of us personally to invest in education.

The current Pasco School District levy election is not a new tax, it is a replacement of the existing tax that expires this year. The funds collected will be used primarily (65 percent) for teaching and learning, while the remaining 35 percent will cover maintenance and operation, as well as extracurricular activities for students.

Please join me in voting “yes” for the Pasco School District levy election. It is an investment in our children, our community, our country’s future.

Jean Ryckman, Pasco
