Letter: Thanks for help from strangers during escalator spill

Even though this thank you is late, I will always remember you.

The day before Christmas, four alert, caring people responded to a call for help. My shoe fell off as I stepped on the escalator at a local store. I fell backward, still gripping the ascending railing.

Two women held my head and shoulders, a young man ran from the opposite escalator and lifted me above the metal steps; another person kept my feet straight. Their quick, caring reaction in this special season truly exemplified Matthew 25:40.

I am truly thankful to these people. They truly exemplified “the spirit of Christmas.”

After questioning, the store personnel took me to my ride.
