Letter: Thanks for story, editorial on Hands In for Hands On

Thank you to the Tri-City Herald for the Jan. 1 story and Jan. 6 editorial regarding Hands In for Hands On (HiHo) Tri-Cities.

Others deserve a lot of credit. Those serving on the HiHo board of directors are a devoted group of individuals who put their “hand in” at the beginning and continue to work hard. Rich Cummins has been a valuable partner and enthusiastic advocate and we are grateful for him and his staff at Columbia Basin College. Three Rivers Community Foundation sponsors us and has made the whole endeavor less stressful. The businesses and individuals that have paired with us financially are helping make an idea a reality, thank you.

Every person probably remembers an experience as a kid that sparked a lifelong fascination/interest that adds richness to their life. During a 5th-grade trip to the Missouri State Capitol, I saw Thomas Hart Benton paintings and knew I wanted to know more about art. Fifteen years later, I had an art history degree and continue to be grateful for the perspective gained.

We want to build a facility that provides that spark and inspires a child to want to learn more. We know the Tri-Cities can make something fantastic.
