Letter: Trust doctor’s decision on issuing handicapped parking permits

I was shocked, but not surprised to read Niki Hughey’s Jan. 6 letter about someone aggressively questioning her right to park in a handicapped parking space, even after showing a placard and a permit card.

I haven’t faced this scenario yet, but I have some friends that have, likewise, because their disability wasn’t glaringly obvious. I don’t want to be judged myself; I put off applying for some time, and I even avoided using electric carts in stores at first. Yet I am cheeky. Some who have questioned my state got an offer to see my surgery scars.

For those who think that’s too much, I urge you to consider Ms. Hughey’s advice — trust our doctor’s decision.
