Letter: Vote ‘yes’ for Kennewick school levy

As chairperson for the Kennewick Citizens’ Levy Committee, I remind you to vote “yes” for the school district’s 2016 maintenance and operations replacement levy.

This levy is not a new tax, it replaces the two-year levy that Kennewick voters approved in 2014. Levies pay for learning (art, music, physical education), for instructional and technology support (librarians, secretaries, computers), athletics and activities, and operations and maintenance (custodians, repairs, grounds and maintenance workers) ... the many school-related programs that are not funded by basic education.

Good schools are good for Kennewick kids, Kennewick businesses, and the citizens of Kennewick. Check “yes” on your ballot and mail it before Feb 9.
