Letter: Vote ‘yes’ on Kennewick school levy to invest in kids, future

Voting “yes” on the replacement levy benefits the entire community. I have lived in the Tri-Cities for 37 years and have raised four children, all graduates of Kennewick schools.

I am very lucky to work and raise a family in a community that values education and realizes the benefits of supporting our local school districts. All four of my children were well prepared for college, work and citizenship. They are successful teachers, coaches, medical and dental professionals.

The money generated from the levy pays for textbooks, teachers, librarians, counselors, honors and advanced courses, athletics, music, utilities, maintenance, transportation, security, technology and much more. The upcoming two-year maintenance and operation levy election is not a new tax; it will replace a two-year levy that expires this year.

This levy will be used to retain the quality services and staff that we already have.

I am proud of my children’s accomplishments that were made possible because of a quality education. Please continue to invest in our kids and the future of our community. Please vote “yes” for Kennewick schools.

Jack Anderson Sr., Kennewick
