Letter: Strategic use of police cars could minimize loss of human life

Citizens want to and must trust police officers, but that means their training. Are the officers getting full training of all tools provided? There might be some lack of training for the most expensive tool, the car.

Citizens provide almost every policeman with the tool, but it appears underused. In Pasco, three policeman were on their feet chasing. The car could have been faster, safer and able to provide barriers.

In other cases officers got out of the car and immediately started shooting because of the fear of harm from knives and toy guns. These cars are equipped with a public address system to gain knowledge from shielded observation and the radio. In one case, multiple cars were at the scene without coordination to surround the individual.

I want to see the minimization of loss of human life, so I must encourage strategic car use and car tracks. We provide shooting ranges so they can shoot well. Let’s make the car hold its true value to the taxpayers. All lives matter and the car can help protect police, citizens and those making a bad choice. Many a medieval knight would be envious.
