Letter: Clean up Richland and make it shine the way it used to

In the 15 years that I’ve been a Richland resident, I’ve seen it go from a quiet community rich in history to a run-down town with little pride.

Why are so many businesses in central Richland allowed to have broken or burnt-out signs? Not just for a month or two, but in some cases, years! So many buildings are left half-painted or partially remodeled, left to be blown away in the next windstorm!

As a taxpayer and homeowner, it worries me that the worn state of Richland will lower the value of my home. It’s sad to see such a proud town have a dusty face.

So, I'd like to challenge both the Richland City Council and the central business owners to make our town great again in 2016! Clean up Richland, and make it shine the way it used to.
