Letter: Corporate greed at Providence and Kadlec

Well, it didn’t take long for big corporate greed to blossom at Providence/Kadlec, as shown by their negotiations with the nurses union.

According to the figures provided by Eric Elmgren (TCH, Dec. 21), the total three-year, $3.65 million cost of the nurses benefit package only amounts to just over one half of what Dr. Rod Hochman, CEO of Providence, was paid in 2013 alone. Put another way, it is less than one percent of the projected $459 million Kadlec earnings for this year.

Providence is proving to be a not-so-good addition to our neighborhood and has taken Kadlec from being one of us to being one of them. In Kadlec we have a modern, growing facility with a lot of fancy equipment and great doctors, but as with any hospital the nurses are the glue that holds it together. They must be treated fairly!
