Letter: Volunteers sought for SARC, other community programs
Volunteering can be the most rewarding work that an individual can do. Improving the quality of life in our community is everyone’s responsibility and everyone can volunteer.
It doesn’t matter your age, your socioeconomic status, your profession, etc; the only requirement to volunteer is that you must have a passion to help. There are so many opportunities available to fit the needs and passions of just about anyone.
One example of volunteer work available is through the Support, Advocacy & Resource Center (SARC). Volunteers work directly with victims of sexual assault and assist them through their time of crisis. Volunteers through SARC also can help with distributing prevention materials, serving as a board member, fundraising, and/or assisting with special projects.
Several agencies like SARC have similar programs to offer community members who want to donate their time. If you are interested in SARC’s volunteer program, call 509-374-5391.
