Letter: Can we learn from Zambrano shooting?
There has been much written about the Zambrano shooting, but not enough about how it could have been prevented, with less-lethal options that could have been taken.
Nothing can change this injustice, but maybe we can learn from it. If police had been equipped with some simple riot gear, such as a helmet or shield, they would not have felt their lives were endangered. A shotgun that fires bean bags or rubber bullets to incapacitate him would have allowed the officers the time to subdue him.
These are just a few of the many options that could have prevented the use of deadly force. I believe our focus should be on preventing something like this from happening again.
