Letter: Stop giving away trillions to the rich, corporations and bankers

Not since the 1960s have I seen such a student movement. Not since we protested an unjust war that was killing our friends, have we had so much to lose. Students are once again protesting over the unnecessary killing of their friends, this time from neglect and depletion of resources and services.

Today’s students are not fooled by the New Democrats, starting with Bill Clinton enacting policies that increased the wealth of the rich, including $230 million for himself, while justifying cutting resources and services for our most neediest people. Especially people of color, Welfare to Work and Tough on Crime.

Clinton signed NAFTA, which promised 1 million new good jobs while instead 1 million were lost. Clinton also signed the repeal of provisions of the Glass-Steagall Act regulating Wall Street, which resulted in the 2008 stealing of $10.2 trillion of Americans’ wealth.

Young adults will no longer take politicians, both Republican and Democrat, telling them no we can’t afford it, when it would take so little to help everyone out of poverty and debt.

Stop giving away our future, stop giving away trillions to the rich, corporations, and bankers. Enough is enough.
