Letter: Honor veterans for sacrifices, not Jenner

Veterans Day is a day where we as Americans honor those who have served for our country. Many do it for the honor of serving, others do it for X reason. But how many are rewarded accordingly?

Months ago, we were introduced to “Caitlyn” Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner.

Following her newly found identity, she received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPYs in July.

However, a more deserving candidate for this award was Noah Galloway, an Army veteran who lost part of his left arm and leg in Iraq. These losses did not slow him down.

Noah went on to be a list full of things such as a personal trainer, distance runner and more. Many people were disappointed, myself included.

Being a veteran who fought for freedom, giving us the possibility of making choices like the choice Jenner made, does one really have to debate on which candidate is more appropriate for such an award?
