Letter: Wealth at Thanksgiving is in human relationships

Last night I awoke sensing my great-grandparents. As I came to, I realized that they have all gone on. But in that moment, they felt alive. Hence I understood that they are alive in me.

What I learned from all of them, the children of the Great Depression, is that their wealth was in human relationships. They were generous and appreciative. They were thankful.

Through Thanksgiving and the holidays, we can keep them alive by also being rich in our relationships. Stay home with family. Reach out to neighbors. Let go of the consumer culture to buy buy buy. Let retailers stay home with their families. Looking around the world, be thankful.
