Letter: Thanks to veterans featured in special section
In regards to the special section honoring military veterans in your Veterans Day edition: I’m willing to bet for every photo and bio of a soldier or sailor, there are five to 10 who didn’t submit. A wonderful tribute, and thanks to all the guys and gals therein, and for the ones who modestly abstained from your pages out of a sense of privacy.
Regarding “3 teens charged in abduction case” (TCH, Nov. 11), I’d ask these fools not be put in the company of hardened criminals by serving time in jail. How about each pulling a 10-year sentence of community service in separate old age homes? Supervised, of course, and risking “cruel and unusual,” make them wear Depends diapers.
Lastly, I’d ask Starbucks not to kowtow (“Starbucks cups cause outcry,” TCH, Nov. 11) to these religious conservatives for simply using red cups. Stand your “grounds,” brewer, and don’t let these silly people dictate what to me is a simple, attractive container for my morning slurp. And may I add I’m sorry your mermaid had to censor her dotted chest because a few apoplectic citizens couldn’t handle the animation.
