Letter: Work crews to pay court fines are a good idea
I agree with the TCH on keeping open the option for individuals to participate on a work crew to pay court fines.
Additional cost savings could include not involving the sheriff’s office at all. Work crews need only be supervised after a judge’s approval to participate. If terms are not met, the individual is removed and subject to fines and collection.
I’m sure there are many other ideas that would help. Benton County commissioners should consider a citizens task force for recommendations.
