Letter: BLM roundup of wild mustangs brutal, barbaric
The wild mustang is an icon. A symbol of American freedom. Yet, how many of us have had the pleasure of seeing them, running, wild and free?
The Bureau of Land Management roundup of 1,500 of these glorious animals will be brutal and barbaric. Family groups will be ripped apart mercilessly. There will be blood and devastation. It is unbelievably cruel and heartless. The 100 horses allowed to remain in the Beatys Butte herd will be a sad remnant of what once was.
I loved cowboy movies as a kid. I can imagine what John Wayne might do. But me ... I am frantically signing petitions and sending letters, and wishing, wishing I could do more. Wishing I could be the kind of hero that could stop this. But, I just don’t know how.
