Letter: GOP Congress has done nothing to advance welfare of the American people

The political leanings of the Herald editorial board are readily apparent, but you do your cause no favors publishing hate-based letters about President Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Your anti-Obama, anti-Clinton, anti-anything-Democrat writers have no facts, so you take the easy way out and publish their re-worded hate rants and snarky comments from Fox network and conservative talk radio.

On the other hand, despite the fact that we live in a very conservative part of the state, your newspaper cannot seem to produce a letter writer who can describe any good things the Republican-controlled Congress has done, or how much better off we would be under a Republican administration. And there’s a reason for that: the Republican Congress has done nothing to advance the welfare of the American people, and it’s taken two Democratic administrations to repair the damage done by the Republicans they replaced.

So let’s try some facts for a change. Since President Obama took office:

Dow up 222 percent.

Budget deficit down 70 percent.

Unemployment rate down from 7.8 percent to 5.1 percent.

If hate is all you have to offer, then you have nothing to offer.
