Letter: Follow selection policy for admission to adult drug court

Adult Drug Court is a program helping addicts who’ve broken the law and are now subject to the judicial system. This is a superb program allowing addicts to become productive members of society and build a strong, clean life.

We know that if an addict doesn’t want help, programs like this won’t help them for long. However, we also know if a person really wants a clean life they will succeed, especially if they keep seeking assistance. One who continues to fight for admission, even after being denied and denied, very likely possesses an honest desire to change, they recognize these lifelines and refuse to let go.

Sadly this excellent program’s selection committee is allowing personal feelings, vendettas and bruised egos to influence who is approved and is denied. The program has clear criteria for admission and it is time members of the committee brush the giant chip off their shoulder and follow the policy in place. It is there for a reason. It is there to keep the program itself honest. Work an honest program committee members, work an honest program.
