Letter: Miss Tri-Cities program director is unbiased and fair
Just shy of 10 years ago, I was crowned the second Miss Tri-Cities’ Outstanding Teen. During that process and over these last few years, I have come to know and appreciate who Dot Stewart, the director of the Miss Tri-Cities program, is and what she has done for the young women of our community.
She is one of the most unbiased, fair, and comprehensive people I’ve known to direct any sort of program. This last year was the first that I was able to participate on the board for the program, and I was equally impressed with her ability to maintain it with added responsibilities, since the previous directors for the teen program were not able to fulfill that position.
I feel sorry for Sarah Carlson’s loss of her title, but I am more troubled by the Herald’s treatment of Dot and the program. She is a very respected, giving, and distinguished member of the Tri-Cities and the Herald is only hindering the potential of this program by squandering her name and the program by publishing only in-depth articles of mistakes, and either no articles or shallow articles about the best parts of this program.
