Letter: Fox News propaganda influencing more voters than any other source of information

Albert Einstein believed that an oligarchy of private capital cannot be effectively checked by a democracy because private capitalists inevitably control the main sources of information. Einstein was certainly prophetic in his belief.

Fox News and the information it disseminates are controlled by an oligarchy of capitalists whose objectives are to (1) oppose effective government regulation in order to increase profits, (2) sacrifice the environment for profit, (3) promote war for profit, (4) eliminate unions and labor laws in order to increase profits, and (5) promote the election of conservative politicians who will be the lackeys of big business.

About 25 percent of American adults watch only Fox News, which means that 25 percent of Americans are constantly being fed information strictly controlled by an elite group of conservative capitalists. MSNBC apparently has a liberal bent, but only about 15 percent of Americans watch that news channel exclusively. CNN appears to be the most balanced of the major news channels, but only 23 percent of Americans watch CNN exclusively.

All this means that Fox propaganda is probably influencing more voters than any other source of information. This explains why so many people vote republican, and against their best interests.
