Letter: Sad to see small businesses shutting their doors

It is shocking how many of the small businesses are shutting their doors. The Columbia Industries thrift store is becoming another Goodwill.

This was a clean, well-managed local charity we loved. Do we need a other Goodwill? This makes five.

We love the Tri-City Herald’s Dealsaver program and try almost all of their restaurant deals. Lately we have had the restaurants close before the Dealsaver expired. This is sad.

Downtown Pizzeria, Sandstones, Tony Romas, Cornellius, plus several more. None were overpriced and all served great food.

Others by us that are gone: Coffee Nook, Between the Bridges, Parks, and four others in this location.

The city should help the small village-type businesses and quit looking for a golden goose to buy into their massive downtown fantasy instead of relocating the residents and having undeclared zoning restrictions in their fiefdom.

Life would be better for us living “Under the Dome.”
