Letter: Too much secrecy surrounding trade bill passed by Congress

The recent trade bill that President Obama was so anxious to have passed was passed by the Congress. Why if he has been working on this bill for six years was the administration making its contents and provisions a big secret?

Is this like Obamacare, where we aren’t supposed to know what’s in the bill until it is passed (Nancy Pelosi’s words). I heard about all the secrecy surrounding this trade bill. That is not right. Congress should refuse to vote on bills until all the contents of the bill are made available. This is necessary for Congress to vote intelligently.

The Congress should not vote for a bill because of its title or what they are told to do by their leaders. I hope we can get a law passed that requires the full content of a bill to be published at least 10 days before Congress is allowed to vote on it.
