Letter: Remember decision to allow pot businesses in Benton County

The headlines regarding the upcoming changes/reclassification regarding pot businesses in Benton County are truly amazing. Commissioner Shon Small and Prosser Mayor Paul Warden put our county and town on the firing line, and now Shon says he wants to reverse his decision as now he realizes how many people are against pot businesses.

But in the beginning meetings were packed with voters against it and Shon ignored them. Facts are, we now are struggling with proven increase in crimes, DUIs, and pot in schools due to their refusal to acknowledge all those possibilities in the first place.

The county that now is Shon’s neighborhood has the new “bakeshop” of edibles and I'm guessing his neighbors are none too happy with that. This all could have been avoided, but ego and lack of character got in the way.

Shon is looking at reelection in a couple of years time. Voters, don’t forget this failure on his part to keep your town and family safe.
