Letter: Clinton provided false narrative about Benghazi attack

After spending the day viewing the marathon Benghazi hearing, I came away with several observations.

First, Secretary Clinton’s records indicated that she initially knew that that the attack was well-coordinated, not a protest, and had nothing to do with a “video.” Knowing this information, she provided a false narrative to family members who had lost loved ones and to the American people. President Obama continued this charade to the United Nations.

Secondly, the communication system within the State Department was ineffective. More than 600 requests for security support were initiated in Libya and none of them reached the secretary’s immediate staff. Records indicated the secretary had no communications with the ambassador following his appointment. Additionally, no one was held accountable for the resulting deaths.

Third, the Republicans appeared to be less than well-organized, and the Democrats’ apparent mission was well-focused on discrediting the committee and lobbying for a possible position in the Clinton administration. Democrats asked few substantive questions.

It is a sad situation when our governmental representatives lie to the American people, and congressional representatives place politics above the welfare of the nation. Meanwhile, much of the press remains silent.
