Letter: Shame on Kennewick Irrigation District
Shame on you, Kennewick Irrigation District, for using scare tactics and bullying your customers during this year’s irrigation season. Now that water service has ended, where was the water shortage?
Before water started flowing, you alleged that there was a water shortage and you imposed watering restrictions. Other Tri-City-area water providers imposed no harsh, erratic lawn watering restrictions. Richland didn’t even caution its water users, Badger Mountain Irrigation District said nothing to its customers, and Columbia Irrigation District merely implemented an odd-even schedule but did not limit watering time.
Your callous implementation of constantly changing watering policies put a lot of stress on your customers, many of whom have no way to vary their watering to comply with your schedule. Operating with self-perceived impunity, you obviously don’t care and apparently have no concern about customer satisfaction.
