Letter: Today matters if we are to create the tomorrow for our children and grandchildren
Instead of “Black Lives”… “Police Lives” … “All Lives Matter,” perhaps we should focus on “Today Matters.”
God thoughtfully provided a world which births a new day every 24 hours, and Matthew 6:34 says “Do not worry about tomorrow… each day has enough troubles of its own.” We cannot change yesterday nor predict tomorrow, but we can influence today and the days ahead by managing our daily actions and habits.
So, just for today, can we resolve to be courteous, kind, trustworthy, productive and faithful?
Just for the next 24 hours can we treat those around us with respect, appreciate our differences, take personal responsibility, work with energy and purpose and take a strong moral stand against those who have no purpose other than to create chaos and evil?
There is an unpredictable brevity to life that is petrifying and can cause inertia, but if Today Matters we can achieve purpose and traction. If Today Matters perhaps we can find humility, resist temptations and serve those who are less fortunate. Today comes once, then is irretrievable.
We need to be good stewards. Today matters if we are to create the tomorrow for our children and grandchildren.
