Letter: State initiative process seems backward
I just received my Benton County election ballot and find that five of the six “Initiatives to the People” deal with initiatives that were passed by the Legislature without any input from the people through the voting process.
One, dealing with state sales tax is slightly different, but is basically the same. Now we are being asked to vote on whether or not they should be repealed or maintained. Isn’t this the old adage that “it is better to ask forgiveness than permission?” The process seems backward to me.
