Letter: Planned Parenthood deserves to be protested
A response to the Planned Parenthood statement regarding the demonstrations to defund it:
The statement was correct in calling the people who coordinated the protests fundamentalist extremists; they are “extreme” in their “fundamental” belief in the value of human life.
The statement was incorrect in claiming the protests were meant to stop patients from seeking “vital” health care services; they were, in fact, meant to stop Planned Parenthood from providing “lethal” services to unborn humans.
A truly lethal service provided by Planned Parenthood is its prenatal care. The end result of a woman’s prenatal care at a Planned Parenthood facility is sixteen times more likely to be a dead baby than a live one. (Planned Parenthood 2013-2014 Annual Report)
Any health care center or system with this record, Planned Parenthood or not, deserves to be protested.
