Letters to the Editor

Letter: Why all the fuss about enforcing the laws of the land?

Why all the fuss about enforcing the laws of the land? Do you folks ever hear of integrity, honesty, or do you remember when they taught this in school? Remember the tale of the cherry tree that was told to help you understand what it meant to be honest? Remember when George had to say “I cannot tell a lie it was me?”

Why is it so hard to understand illegal? It means you cannot speed down a street and ignore the school sign flashing, you cannot fire a weapon in public, you cannot assault an officer who is just doing his or her job. You cannot cross the border without proper papers, as I found out trying to visit Canada.

You can do your duty and serve in the armed forces, you can believe as you wish or don’t wish when it comes to God. You can work hard to be a positive example for all to see. We all must start to obey the laws we created to keep us and generations to come safe, happy and free.
