Letter: Time to end the Pasco teachers strike

I want what you want, teachers, because I don’t believe you have enough resources or pay. The school district made a proposal that is not even guaranteed to be financially viable in the long term, in order to try to meet your union’s demands.

In response, you voted to continue to strike in direct violation of a court order.

It’s time to end this illegal strike. The final negotiations can occur while our kids are in school. Pasco has put in all the money it can. It’s time to take your justified complaints to the state. I will stand there beside you when you do.

Until then, I will continue to tuck my kids in at night and try to explain to them why they’re not going to school tomorrow. And in the morning, I will do my best to educate my children in your absence.
