Follow God’s laws
“We are not a theocracy!” Mr. Bob Allen has it right! We have a form of government that is based on man-made laws. As citizens, we have to adhere to those laws, and when these laws deviate too much from natural (divine) laws, then people often find themselves in conflict with their consciences.
In reality, however, we do live in a theocracy; whether one believes in God and His creation or not. Creation is based on His laws and those laws rule absolutely and without exception.
There are consequences to disobeying these laws and history has proven that a nation which manages to attune its man-made laws to divine laws will fare well, while the cumulative effects of deviating from them will surely always bring decline. Consider the comings and goings of entire cultures. (Egypt, Greece, Rome ... USA)
Declines can always be traced to the exact degree to which man-made laws are in not in conformance. There is no escaping this. The trick is not to find the right religion, but to find out what God’s laws are. In science we acknowledge that the laws of physics rule. Why not everywhere?
