Kindness on the football field for Hanford High School quarterback among Herald letters
Students’ kindness
A recent Tri-City Herald article brought awareness to one of our own, Cole Mullins, and his battle with cancer. Cole, now a senior at Hanford High School, has been our starting quarterback for the past two years.
There has been a generous outpouring of support from our “rival” schools throughout the Mid-Columbia Conference. Schools have posted photos of their teams with signs and jerseys recognizing Cole and his #9 on social media. Hermiston presented our school with a large sign supporting Cole.
This past week was our rivalry game versus Richland. At first glance, you noticed the Bomber student section highlighted with a large “Cole Strong” sign. Then, when the Bomber offense took the field for the first time, they lined up with only 10 men — no quarterback — as a sign that one young man was missing from the night’s game — and took a delay of game penalty. The two teams then shook hands, shared hugs and proceeded to play a thrilling game.
On behalf of Hanford High School I wanted to acknowledge the kindness and support of our local high schools. Thank you for demonstrating class, showing compassion and focusing on what is truly important.

Biden’s MAGA tightly defined
In response to Donald Havre’s letter regarding MAGA Republicans: the issues he lists are not the definition of MAGA Republicans that Biden uses. Biden was referring to Republicans (including ones up for election) who allow illegal access to voting equipment and will not accept certain election results, even though every “proof” the 2020 election was “rigged” has been debunked by facts. Biden was referring to people who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, injuring many police they say they support. Biden was referring to Republicans who call the FBI and DOJ “monsters” and encourage violence and threats against agents and others. Biden was referring to Republicans who believe Trump should be excused for having boxes of classified documents in his golf club (another person would be charged with a felony and probably imprisoned).
Other facts: 86.3% of drug arrests on the borders are U.S. citizens. CRT has never been taught in (Washington) elementary or high schools; school districts have always allowed parents to see curriculum and opt out of sex education; suing teachers for making children “uncomfortable” doesn’t help the teacher shortage.
If you only believe what you’ve written, you are not one of the Americans Biden was “insulting.”

All children are dear to someone
The future of our Nation and our individual souls are in jeopardy. To those of us who have great-grandchildren, grandchildren, sons, daughters, cousins, nieces, nephews, God-children, even friends and neighbors children, I ask, so which one of these souls would not have made a difference in our lives?
When these souls are aborted, it will never be known what a difference they would have made in our lives, or that of the world.
Abortion in our nation has hardened our hearts. We have rejected God’s gift of life, in its most innocent and vulnerable state, in the womb.
All children, born and preborn, should be respected, loved and cared for in our nation. God has given us a mandate and responsibility, a duty to love.
When our lives end on earth and final judgment occurs, where will each of us stand on this most important question?
Did we love all God’s gifts, especially His gift of life? Did we share it and were we willing to sacrifice for it, for the greater glory of God?
