Prosser board wants your voice
To the constituents, students and staff of the Prosser School District:
Please Note: By law, our main concern is the education of the students. We want young people to become the best of themselves. We want them to willingly step into a productive adult world. See the Revised Code of the state of Washington if you want validation for action.
Come to the School Board meetings. Listen carefully. Take accurate notes. Read the available materials. Reason these thoughts, words, and deeds through. Respond. Talk to one another and connect. Speak up, or just observe. But be there..
Become an educated voter. Each participant — every single voice makes a difference. The future is at stake, and the school board would benefit from your presence.

Police pursuit column flawed
Sen. Ann Rivers’ recent column has cited the law that seriously limited police pursuits as the causation for the increase in auto thefts.
Quite frankly, this is about the stupidest linkage I think I have ever heard. Does anyone really believe that thieves are now emboldened because they are not going to be chased after stealing a car? No, most thieves wouldn’t be attempting a crime if they thought they would be discovered, let alone subsequently pursued. Sen. Rivers is ignoring the reason the anti-pursuit law was implemented, to eliminate the collateral damage to the public, high speed chases involving property crime suspects is and was not warranted.
The real reason auto thief crime is up? Because the value of used autos is up 45% from a year ago.
Fortunately, Ms. Rivers isn’t from around here, but if her flawed reasoning is what we can expect from the rest of her party, then yes we should all be very concerned.

CRT false theory, pushes Marxism
Ms. Parish’s letter July 31 is correct that Critical Race Theory (CRT) originated and remains a false theory of discussion in academia. However, she is either misinformed or spreading disinformation by alleging that CRT does not teach harmful things. CRT actually promotes anti-Americanism, it teaches that folks be judged on the basis of skin color, it seeks to make white folks, especially children, guilty because of skin color and it does promote leftist Marxist ideals.
Marxism seeks to divide folks based on economic class while CRT seeks to divide folks based on skin color. It teaches some folks are inherently “bad,” while others are “oppressed.” Essentially it says persons of color are not responsible for their own failings, while white folks are always given better outcomes. It teaches that the reality of merit-based advancement in (the) U.S. is a myth and “whiteness” is key for advancement, not merit. Dr. Martin Luther King would be appalled by the appearance of CRT as topic of instruction in the K-12 education system. CRT may also be unconstitutional based on the 14th Amendment. CRT is core racism and is repackaged Marxism based on opinion and without evidence. It has no place in K-12 education.

Primary reveals GOP’s disunity
This primary election is why I have never joined the GOP and never will: They cannot settle on a candidate, therefore fragmenting their vote so the traitor, Newhouse, is the candidate! Even though the anti-Newhouse total votes would have retired him to Sunnyside! Loren Culp was endorsed by Trump; had the other “candidates” not run, the race would have been between Culp and Newhouse!
Conservatives thought this would be the year they take back the Senate and House, but as we’ve seen in the past, the GOP will screw it up because they have no clear message!
I have lost interest in this year’s election, and it maybe the first election I don’t vote for a representative in my 80 years!
The buffoon in the White House has two more years to finish destroying this nation and there are enough RINO’s, like Newhouse, to help him!

Hanford great site for big solar plant
As a big proponent of renewable energy, I’ve enjoyed reading about the two potential solar farms to be built near Sunnyside. The almost 1,000 acres proposed could power almost 150,000 households! That’s a great start, but we have the perfect location to build a much bigger solar farm: the Hanford site.
The 580-square-mile (more than 370,000 acres) Hanford site has a huge amount of land available that will probably never be used for any commercial or residential purposes and would be a perfect location for solar panels and backup batteries. It’s the property of the Department of Energy, with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Energy Northwest, Bonneville Power Administration and the Washington State University all located nearby. Those organizations working together could build a state-of-the-art solar project rivaling any in the world. If just 10,000 acres were used, it could provide power to over a million households, more than a third of Washington state!
I can’ think of a better location for such a project, as we have the knowledge, know-how, potential funding and available land to make it happen.
Let’s ask Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to make it so!

Democrat policies don’t please him
Are Democrats (Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, Patty Murray) ignorant of Basic Economics 101, out of touch with struggling constituents, and detached from reality, or intentionally causing hyperinflation, recession, malaise and electrical shortages?
“Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon, in the sense that it is and can be produced only by a more rapid increase in the quantity of money than in output.” (Milton Friedman)
Democrat response?: Spend and print trillions of dollars, devaluing the dollar, increasing the national debt and causing more inflation.
“A recession is two consecutive quarters of decline in gross domestic product.” (Pre-Biden definition)
Democrat response: Redefine “recession” and raise corporate taxes (increasing prices, depressing wages, reducing pension funds, raising unemployment, sending manufacturing overseas, deepening the recession).
Democrat response to energy: Prohibit natural gas, oil, pipeline, coal, and hydro development while subsidizing inefficient, cost prohibitive, and environmentally damaging wind and solar power and electric vehicles, resulting in brownouts and blackouts.
Recommended Headline: “Minorities, women and poor suffer most.”
Is it Democrat leaders’ old age and onset of senility or dementia, just plain incompetence, or (gasp) White Supremacy? (Or maybe “Donkey Pox?”)
Only China benefits from these deranged policies. Maybe China has something on Hunter Biden?

VA expansion needed sooner
I just read an article about the expansion of the VA health care facility in the Tri-Cities. Sen. Patty Murray said she was concerned about veterans having to drive so far for health care. A few years ago when the decision was made to spend millions of dollars on the facility in Walla Walla she was the driving force behind that even though it would have benefited more veterans to build it here. Maybe she should explain why we are important now but not then.
