Tri-City Herald letters on Putin, COVID and how to get Trump back in the White House

Putin’s respect is not a good thing

“No respect from Putin,” says Trump about Biden. Now, I find that statement extremely worrisome. Does Trump really value the respect of Putin, a man who has robbed his own people in order to become one of the wealthiest men in the world, a man driven by power and greed who has recently attacked a sovereign nation and who is presently committing genocide? Do we even want this kind of respect for our president?

Now, even more troubling than Trump’s admiration of this ruthless despot is the fact that Trump’s own goals come into question. Does this help explain the strange phenomenon now taking place in our own country as Trump becomes able to hold the entire Republican Party hostage?

His most Putin-like tactic is to eliminate any opposition. That explains why Trump has recently attacked those whom he calls RINO – a RINO being a Republican-In-Name-Only. Actually, it is one who abides by the rule of law and who observes the Constitution.

Since Trump wants to rule, rather than lead, his style has more than earned the respect of Putin. However, let’s not have this kind of “respect’ be a qualification for seeking office in our nation or the free world.

Her brilliance astounds her

This letter is for all the faithful Republicans who think they can’t do anything about the mess we’re in with Joe (Biden) and Kamala (Harris).

What a wonderful discovery to find that at almost 90, I’m still so brilliant that I can think of an idea to get Donald back into the White House by the end of this year.

1. Declare Joe ill by way of worsening Alzheimer’s (come on folks, quit pussy-footing around. We all know Joe has Alzheimer’s) and so he’s removed.

2. Kamala becomes president, and leads us into more trouble than the world has ever seen, with her stupidity. And so everyone, Democrats and Republicans remove her from office for incompetence.

3. Now Nancy will be declared president, but before that happens the elections in November vote in a new Speaker of the House, a Republican, and Nancy’s out. The new Republican becomes president.

Naturally, all this has to be done in an orderly and legal way. Now for the first time in my long life I may finally be wrong, but can’t the new president get to choose a new vice president?

Well, what a surprise! Yup! Guess who it will be? Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Donald Trump is back in the White House by the end of 2022. My brilliance often astounds me.

COVID wins out with disinterest

There was an old phrase that war makes men of boys. Sexist and not true, as women and girls were a vital part of all fights but that is the phrase. The question is then why aren’t men being created in the war against COVID? We have the facts, the studies, the real-life consequences of not fighting back, and yet so many men and women choose to deny, get mis- and disinformed and continue to put others at risk.

Two years and this tactic hasn’t worked at all and traps us all in the wave after wave of COVID. Is it not having a human form to attack? That being a hero is in the not spreading and less immediate gratification? With so many gun owners here, it can’t be the lack of physical weapons to wave around, or is it? Why anyone would willingly choose to not help in this war is beyond imagination. Deadly for too many, and disabling individuals and society to a degree that will haunt us, diminish us and shorten lives for likely decades to come. COVID will win out from our disinterest.
